Both views are not mutually exclusive, nor do we believe that they are always complementary or synergistic. They are points of view and ways of working to be considered and chosen by the therapist and / or the patient. They are even ways of wanting to see life and act accordingly. The scientific basis has its place, and it helps us to stay grounded and not invent treatments or vary the techniques because of individual or temporary intuitions. The empirical knowledge (link to wikipedia) helps us to value and love the patient, see them as physical-emotional / mental and spiritual (the meaning that life has for him), family, social and environmental. During the courses our teachers do not invent new techniques, and if they bring variations through their experience, they indicate this. When we teach from empiricism (https://es.wikipedia.org/wiki/Empirismo), we always cite the source and sometimes the millennial origin, but still valid today, where a treatment done in a particular way, in a certain context produces a specific result. When we rely on scientific research, we are realistic in that a lot remains to be demonstrated, that everything has a point of relativism (https://es.wikipedia.org/wiki/Relativismo), and that the patient-therapist interaction variable is sometimes more important, than the technique itself. The placebo concept (https://es.wikipedia.org/wiki/Effecto_placebo) we like, as we are looking for the best result in the treatment with the psyche of the patient. While we study and apply the purest and most effective techniques possible, the patient can receive the synergy of these plus the placebo effect and the good psychological treatment necessary to help achieve the result.
We synthesise the knowledge of several empirical and research sources, where the information overlaps. For example, when several bibliographical sources, or several disciples of the same teacher, explain a diagnostic tool or a treatment methodology we are interested in and what they all agree on and synergize. Together with our experience, which also corroborates the results, it leads us to transmit the synthetic teaching (not yet summarised) of direct application to the patient.
Intensive courses usually offer a practical and direct application seeking a fast and effective result on a disease or patient at the same time. This stimulates the self-healing vitality with the maximum effectiveness possible. We therefore can omit explanations of why, or different points of view on the applied technique. Individualised student tutoring is also offered post-course and provides what it needed to feel safe when it comes to working.
